Hurricane-Resistant Glass

Glasplex hurricane-resistant glass is engineered for regions exposed to extreme wind events and severe storms. Using a laminated composite design, it withstands high wind pressures and impacts from flying debris. Even in the event of breakage, the glass retains its integrity, preventing water and wind intrusion.

Glass Structure

Laminated: 6mm toughened glass + 1.52mm PVB/SGP interlayer + 6mm toughened glass

Insulating Glass Option: Laminated glass + 12mm air gap + 6mm toughened glass (optional Low-E coating available)

Features

Wind Pressure Resistance:
Successfully passed 9,000 positive and negative wind pressure cycles, meeting Florida building code standards and other international hurricane-resistant requirements.

Impact & Penetration Resistance:
The interlayer absorbs energy from impacts, preventing glass fragments from scattering.

Weather Durability:
Excellent resistance to UV radiation, salt spray, and coastal corrosion, making it ideal for coastal high-rise environments.

Acoustic Performance:
The PVB interlayer effectively blocks high-frequency noise, while the insulating cavity enhances mid- and low-frequency noise reduction.

Application

Curtain walls of coastal high-rise buildings

Large public facilities such as airports, train stations, and stadiums

Residential and commercial buildings in typhoon-prone regions

Parameter

Wind resistance grade: ≥ Grade 9 (GB/T 7106–2019)

Maximum size: 18m × 4m (customisable)

Cyclic test: No breakage after 9,000 wind pressure cycles
